Participant waiver

I acknowledge that venturing into the outdoors is a risky endeavor, and that activities including, without limitation, trail running, fastpacking, and backpacking are potentially hazardous. I agree that in my participation with Cascadian Wilderness Endurance Series (CWES) events, I will not attempt any activity or events unless I am medically able, properly trained, and fully prepared for the area and conditions into which I am traveling. I agree that CWES is not responsible for any injury or medical condition experienced by me as a result of my participation. I will carry the proper safety and survival gear and know how to use it before embarking on this event. If I am at all unsure about my preparedness, I will ask the event director for help and/or clarification, but such advice is acknowledged by me to be a courtesy and in no way makes the organization liable to me. I assume any and all risks associated with running/hiking this event including, but not limited to, falls, injuries, death, contact with other participants, and those risks arising from weather and trail conditions. I promise to follow LEAVE NO TRACE principles while I am participating in this event, and I will pack out any trash that I may find, to the best of my ability. I promise to not damage any wilderness areas, nor will I disturb or harass any wildlife. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts, and in consideration of your acceptance of my entry, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release CWES, all sponsors and contributors, volunteers, staff, directors and their representatives and successors, and anyone else or any other company or organization from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. I have read the foregoing and certify my agreement by registering for the event. I understand that my entry fee is nonrefundable and will be donated to charity and if I ask for it back, I am a bad person.

All participants must at all times abide by Federal, State, and Local laws. All participants must submit proof of having completed the route via GPS/Garmin/Suunto/etc data, photographic evidence, and/or a convincingly detailed trip report/blog.

Entrants may participate solo or as part of a team. Teams can be independent, unsupported athletes that simply travel together, or team members can mule for one another during the event. Participants are not allowed to receive any outside support.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact one of the co-directors, Kristoffer Jonson or Steven Palmer. Good luck and happy adventuring!
